25 Bligh Street Forecourt
by peckvonhartel

IN THE ARCHITECTS WORDS

Bligh Street is located in the Central Business District of Sydney and is an extension of Castlereagh Street, a major north-south Street that is lined by many of Sydney's most expensive boutiques and jewellery stores. Bligh Street is predominantly characterised by high-rise commercial office towers that offer little street address, ground level use, pedestrian amenity or architectural appeal. Completed in 1978, 25 Bligh Street is an

office building that is modernist in style with a dominant fa├žade treatment of black metal cladding and dark tinted glazing. Whilst the building is set back approximately 15 metres from the street, the building forecourt has typically provided a mere entry to the building: providing little alternative use, comfort or convenience for both building occupants and pedestrians and offers no contribution to the urban design of the precinct.
