Timothy Hill is one of the four partners of the Brisbane based Donovan Hill. Their practice is deliberately unspecialised and ranges across scales from furniture prototyping to city master planning.

This varied commission base has entailed contact with a wide client array; government departments, speculative marketeers, seasonal developers, universities, builders and fastidious domestic clients.... all of whom carry presumptions about ‘Housing’ and ‘Australians’. Many design strategies have been trialled in an attempt to optimise or sometimes circumvent circumstances with results including the retail ready prefabricated ‘Dhan’ series for Happy Haus, the 2007 RAIA National Housing Award winning Cornwall Apartments, converted woolstore apartments, ‘environmentally sensitive’ subdivision plans, and in a continuous stream over 18 years, individual houses.

Timothy has been engaged as a designer in these settings and as critic, advisor, commentator and protagonist in many others. He was Creative Director of the 2007 conference ‘Departure Lounge’. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland.
