Sprawl, post-industrialisation, globalisation and the digital age have changed the way we engage with the city, leaving 20th century models behind. Nexus presents an opportunity to reflect on the past, experiment with the urban condition and imagine viable alternatives for what the city may come to mean. Australian and international speakers from the USA, Brazil, Canada, France and the Netherlands will come together in Newcastle to present their experiences and thoughts on city and place making, associated experimental architecture, interdisciplinary practice and grassroots urban renewal.
The Australia and New Zealand Student Architecture Congress is the largest student gathering in the architecture calendar. It will be an opportunity to not only engage with the national and international architecture community, but also meet and get to know your fellow students from across Australia and New Zealand.
The directors, Tom, Rianda and Joe, encourage students from first year to final year and beyond, across all architecture schools, to converge in Newcastle, July 03-06 to participate in discussion and activities which will engage with the idea of the City.
Help shed some light on how architecture can be dynamic, ingenious and agile in its response to the modern city, by contributing to Nexus. Help shape the future of our profession and cities alike.
